Why It’s a Popular Destination

It’s no wonder that Île aux Cerfs is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Mauritius. This tiny island, located just off the coast of the mainland, is a veritable paradise, with its pearly-white beaches, crystal-clear waters, and lush tropical foliage. Île aux Cerfs is the perfect place to relax and soak up the sun, swim and snorkel in the clear blue waters, or take part in any of the many water sports on offer.

There are also plenty of restaurants and bars to enjoy, as well as a world-class 18-hole golf course designed by two-time Masters champion Bernhard Langer. Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway or a fun-filled family vacation, Île aux Cerfs has something for everyone.

How to get to Île aux Cerfs

There are a few ways to get to Île aux Cerfs from the mainland of Mauritius. The most popular way is by speedboat, which takes around 30 minutes. Several companies offer this service, and the price is usually around $30 per person. You can also take a catamaran or a ferry from the port city of Port Louis, which takes about an hour and a half. The ferry ride is much cheaper, at around $10 per person, but it is not as convenient as taking a speedboat.

Our speedboat patiently awaits at the entrance of our hotel, the Four Seasons at Anahita. A brief 15-minute voyage leads us to an exclusive area on the island that is specifically designated for those who are staying at our resort.

The island’s amenities intentionally maintain a basic quality to preserve its natural state. Except for a bar, shower, and toilet on site, this portion of the island remains unaltered.

You can reach Île aux Cerfs by catamaran or speedboat.

What to do on the island?

As tiny as it is, the island Île aux Cerfs is home to plenty of activities and attractions to keep you entertained for a day. Here’s what you can do on Île aux Cerfs:

Take a dip and cool off from the Mauritian heat in the crystal clear waters surrounding the island. The turquoise waters around Île aux Cerfs are simply begging to be explored.

Sunbathe on the sandy beaches or lounge in a hammock under the palms. With its soft white sand and stunning views, the beach is the perfect place to catch some rays.

– How about a walk through the lush tropical vegetation? The island is blessed with an abundant amount of hidden coves and scenic lookout points.

– Visit one of the many restaurants or bars on the island for lunch or dinner with stunning views. No trip to Île aux Cerfs would be complete without a delicious meal at one of the world-renowned beachfront restaurants.

– Play a round of golf on the world-famous 18-hole course designed by Bernard Langer

– Rent a jet ski or go parasailing for an adrenaline-pumping experience With so much to do, Île aux Cerfs is the perfect place to spend a day (or two) if you’re looking to get away from it all.

What to eat?

There are plenty of food options available on Île aux Cerfs, so you won’t go hungry during your day trip! If you’re looking for a quick snack, stop by one of the beachfront kiosks for some fresh fruit or a DELICIOUS coconut. For a more substantial meal, head to one of the restaurants overlooking the lagoon – I recommend the Mauritian-style seafood curry! And don’t forget to try the local rum – it’s some of the best in the world!

As we sit at the Beach Bar and Grill’s swinging bar stools, our toes sinking into the sand while enjoying a gorgeous ocean view, we savor the tantalizing fragrances of ripe tropical fruits and salty sea air.

Tips for making the most of your trip

If you’re looking for a breathtaking tropical island to add to your Mauritius itinerary, look no further than Île aux Cerfs! Here are my top tips for making the most of your trip.

-Depending on where exactly you will arrive I suggest you depart as earliest as you can to beat the crowds and enjoy some peace and quiet on the beach. The island gets quite busy later in the day, so an early start will help you avoid the hustle and bustle.

-Make sure to bring plenty of sunscreen, as there is very little shade on the island. The sun in South Africa can be quite intense, so it’s important to protect your skin.

-Don’t forget your swimsuit! The Mauritian Island is famous for its beautiful beaches and clear waters, so make sure you take advantage of this by going for a dip.

-If you get hungry, there are plenty of food options available on the island. From BBQs to seafood restaurants, you’ll find something to suit your taste buds. Just be aware that prices can be a bit higher than usual due to the island’s popularity with tourists.

By following these tips, you’re guaranteed to have an enjoyable and memorable time on Île aux Cerfs!
